UTTARAKHAND: Yoga Session Held at CM’s Residence; CM Dhami Urges Citizens to Embrace Yoga as a Way of Life

Dehradun: A collective yoga session was organized on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s residence complex in Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami actively participated in the event along with officers and staff members of the Chief Minister’s Office.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to incorporate yoga into their daily routine. He emphasized that yoga is much more than just a physical activity — it is a holistic discipline that fosters self-awareness, inner peace, and spiritual growth. “Yoga calms the mind and serves as a medium to connect with a deeper state of consciousness,” he said.

Highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage, the Chief Minister noted that yoga is a foundational element of Sanatan Dharma and an enduring symbol of India’s spiritual legacy. “India has always upheld the highest human values, and yoga is a reflection of this ethos. Today, it has become an essential part of life for millions across the globe and a symbol of India’s contribution to global well-being,” he added.

CM Dhami also recalled the historic initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, when he proposed at the United Nations General Assembly to recognize yoga at the international level. The proposal received overwhelming support from 177 countries, leading to the declaration of 21 June as International Yoga Day.

Describing Uttarakhand as the sacred land of yoga, spirituality, and sages, the Chief Minister said that the state government is making consistent efforts to popularize yoga across the state. “Yoga is being promoted at the grassroots level, and new employment opportunities are also being generated in the wellness sector,” he said.

He further informed that in line with the vision of establishing Uttarakhand as a global hub for Yoga and Wellness, the state government has introduced a new Yoga Policy. This policy aims to strengthen yoga education, promote employment, and attract investment in the yoga and wellness ecosystem.
