Uttarkashi. In the aftermath of the recent natural disaster in Uttarkashi district, the state government has been conducting rapid and safe rescue operations in the affected regions, especially around Gangotri and Harsil. On Thursday, the Secretary of Disaster Management informed that 274 pilgrims have been successfully brought to Harsil from Gangotri and nearby areas, and all are reported to be completely safe.
These pilgrims hail from various states across India:
Gujarat – 131
Maharashtra – 123
Madhya Pradesh – 21
Uttar Pradesh – 12
Delhi – 7
Rajasthan – 6
Assam – 5
Karnataka – 5
Telangana – 3
Punjab – 1
The process of transporting these pilgrims from Harsil to Uttarkashi and Dehradun is currently underway.
135 Evacuated Safely from Harsil
As of now, 135 people have been safely evacuated from Harsil, including:
100 individuals brought to Uttarkashi
35 individuals sent to Dehradun
In total, 135 people have been successfully transported to safer destinations, while 274 remain safe at Harsil and are being prepared for onward travel.
Government Working on a War Footing
The state government, district administration, Disaster Management Department, ITBP, NDRF, and other agencies are working in close coordination with full commitment. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami is personally monitoring the situation and issuing continuous directives to ensure every possible help reaches the affected people.
