Weather turned pleasant in state, respite from the heat

Light rain and hailstorm accompanied by strong winds occurred in most of the plains of the state. Lightning flashed with thunder in all the districts of the state. Snowfall on the higher peaks made the weather pleasant from the mountains to the plains.

The weather changed in the state on Wednesday. Cold winds blew in the plains. The change in weather brought some respite from the heat. The mercury dropped from 4 to 5 degrees. The hills of Gangotri Dham and areas around Gaumukh received snowfall. Whereas, it rained intermittently in lower areas of state. There was light rain in the Yamuna Ghati as well.

According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, there was a possibility of lightning, light rain and hailstorm with thunder in some districts of the state. A yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy rain with heavy showers at isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts. Whereas, in addition to landslides and rock falls in sensitive areas, there is also a possibility of road blockage due to accumulation of debris at some places.

The forecast has been issued by the Meteorological Department from 18 to 21 April. Heavy rain and hailstorm can damage plantation, horticulture and standing crops. Along with this, the department has instructed not to keep vehicles and cattle in open places. There is a possibility of damage to vehicles and cattle due to heavy hail.

According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, the weather will change tomorrow and Thursday in five districts including Doon. There is a possibility of heavy rains with heavy showers on Thursday in five districts including Dehradun. Yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi and Tehri districts. While on its next day i.e. on April 21, there is a possibility of lightning accompanied by thunder in some districts across the state.
