Magistrate Inquiry Ordered into Mysterious Death of Woman at Kiyana Homestay in Mussoorie
SDM Mussoorie Rahul Anand appointed as Inquiry Officer; Public invited to submit evidence and statements by July 17

The Dehradun district administration has ordered a magistrate inquiry into the mysterious death of a woman at Kiyana Homestay in the Mussoorie area. Acting on the directions of the District Magistrate, a detailed and impartial investigation will be conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Joint Magistrate, Mussoorie, Rahul Anand informed that the case pertains to the death of Farpudi Radha Gayatri, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Kiyana Homestay on June 15, 2026.
Following the incident, Mussoorie Police Station registered Case Crime No. 19/26 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the course of the police investigation, the post-mortem examination failed to establish the exact cause of death. In view of the inconclusive medical findings, the District Magistrate, Dehradun, ordered a magistrate inquiry to ensure a fair, transparent and comprehensive examination of all facts and evidence.
In compliance with the District Magistrate’s order dated July 6, 2026, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mussoorie, Rahul Anand has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer. He will examine all available evidence, documents, witness statements and other relevant aspects of the case before submitting the inquiry report.
The district administration has also invited members of the public to assist in the inquiry. Anyone possessing information, documents, evidence or any other material related to the incident may appear in person or submit written representations before the Court/Office of the SDM, Mussoorie, Dehradun, on any working day up to July 17, 2026.
The administration has emphasized that the inquiry will be conducted in a completely impartial, transparent and lawful manner. Further action will be taken strictly in accordance with the findings of the inquiry and the evidence collected during the investigation.
