Chief Minister participates in Dussehra fair organised by Laxman Chowk Welfare Society, extends Vijayadashami greetings to the people of Uttarakhand
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Dussehra fair organised by the Laxman Chowk Welfare Society at Hindu National College in Dehradun on Tuesday. On the occasion, the Chief Minister performed Ravana Dahan, conveying the message of the triumph of good over evil and righteousness over unrighteousness. He also extended Vijayadashami greetings to the people of Uttarakhand and wished them happiness, prosperity and well-being. Cabinet Minister Khajan Das was also present at the event.
The Chief Minister said that Dussehra is an important festival in Indian culture and tradition, symbolising the victory of truth, righteousness and justice. He noted that Ravana Dahan is not merely a religious tradition but also a reminder to overcome negative tendencies such as ego, anger and greed and embrace moral values in everyday life.
Dhami said that Vijayadashami reinforces the belief that no matter how powerful evil and injustice may appear, truth and righteousness ultimately prevail. The festival inspires people to uphold ethical values, reject negativity and remain committed to the path of truth.
Referring to the life and ideals of Lord Ram, the Chief Minister said that his character embodies dignity, sacrifice, compassion and a strong sense of duty. Lord Ram’s life teaches people to remain steadfast in their commitment to truth and righteousness, even in challenging circumstances. His ideals also inspire individuals to fulfil their responsibilities towards their families, society and the nation with sincerity.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of Dussehra fairs and similar cultural events in preserving Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and passing traditional values on to younger generations. Such programmes help children and young people connect with Indian traditions, religious beliefs and mythological narratives while promoting social harmony, unity and brotherhood.
Dhami appreciated the efforts of the Laxman Chowk Welfare Society and extended his best wishes to everyone associated with the event. He emphasised that festivals become truly meaningful when their underlying messages are reflected in people’s conduct and daily lives. Adopting truth, good conduct and positive values, he said, is essential to upholding the true spirit of Vijayadashami.
A large number of local residents and people associated with the organising committee attended the programme, which conveyed the enduring message of the victory of good over evil through Ravana Dahan.
