CM Dhami Unveils Development Plans for Karnaprayag During Baisakhi Fair

DEHRADUN/KARNAPRAYAG – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, addressing the Baisakhi Religious Tourism, Cultural and Development Fair 2025 virtually from his office in Dehradun, announced a series of developmental projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and tourism in Karnaprayag, Chamoli district.

During his address, the CM extended greetings on the occasions of Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti. Expressing his regret at not being able to attend the fair in person due to prior government commitments, he emphasized the cultural and economic significance of such events, which serve as vital platforms for preserving local heritage and supporting folk artists.

Key Development Initiatives Announced:

Flood Protection: Work will be undertaken along the Pindar River from Saraswati Shishu Mandir towards the main market area to mitigate flood risks.

Parking Infrastructure:

A new parking facility will be constructed near the Karnaprayag market.

A multi-storey parking structure is planned near the Kankhul taxi stand in anticipation of the upcoming Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra.

Additional parking will be developed near the motor bridge in Shimli.

Road Connectivity: A new road will connect Government Inter College to Sankrisera, Palethi, and Padli villages, improving local accessibility.

Vision for Cultural and Infrastructure Growth

Highlighting the state’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, CM Dhami pointed to transformative projects like the Char Dham Road Project, improved heli services connecting hill towns, deployment of government-operated air ambulances, and enhancements in education, healthcare, roads, and drinking water facilities.

He also underlined the importance of the under-construction Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail line, expected to provide vital rail connectivity to the region and create significant employment opportunities in Karnaprayag and neighboring areas.

Focus on Heritage and Pilgrimage Development

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to preserving Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage, the CM highlighted:

Major redevelopment underway at Kedarnath Dham.

Implementation of a Rs 424-crore master plan for Badrinath Dham.

Approved ropeway projects to Kedarnath Dham and Hemkund Sahib, sanctioned by the Government of India.

Preparations for Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra 2026

The CM also announced that preparations are in full swing for next year’s Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, which will commence from Nauti village in Karnaprayag. He assured the public that the sacred journey will be organized in a grand and spiritually uplifting manner.
