CM Dhami urges youth to actively contribute in building a developed India.

Dehradun: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Graphic Era Deemed University in Dehradun on Tuesday. During the program, PhD degrees and academic titles were conferred upon graduating students and Minister Gadkari was honored with an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Addressing the gathering, Gadkari lauded the students, saying the convocation was a testament to their hard work, dedication and perseverance. “This degree is not merely an academic certificate, but a symbol of responsibility,” he remarked. Highlighting India’s demographic strength, he said, “Our country has the world’s largest pool of talented, youthful, and skilled human resources. Indian youth are well-regarded across the globe and are wealth creators for our nation. Our vision must shift from seeking jobs to creating them.”

The Union Minister emphasized the importance of dreaming big and working with determination to fulfill those aspirations. He said credibility, honesty and a continuous desire to learn are key to success. “Persistence is critical. The urge to keep learning should never stop.”

Speaking on infrastructure, he cited India’s record achievements in the construction of bridges, tunnels, roads, and highways in recent years. He noted the government’s commitment to green energy, describing hydrogen as the fuel of the future, and shared that he personally uses a hydrogen-powered vehicle. Work is underway to produce hydrogen from organic municipal waste, he added.

Calling India a land of youth, researchers, and startups, Gadkari pointed to the growing influence of Indian-origin CEOs in global companies, underscoring India’s rising stature. He also stressed the need to improve the Domestic Happiness Index, stating that development must include emotional and social well-being.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, welcoming the Union Minister, hailed him as the “Vishwakarma of modern India,” and credited his leadership for the rapid development of expressways, green corridors, logistics hubs and road networks across the country.

CM Dhami called on the youth to play a proactive role in nation-building through their knowledge and skills. He highlighted the state government’s efforts under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish Uttarakhand as a hub of education and innovation. Implementation of the New Education Policy has led to the introduction of courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data in state universities and research centers.

To foster scientific temper and research, science centers have been developed in Dehradun, Haldwani, and Almora. The state is promoting startups through incubation centers, and more than 23,000 government jobs have been provided in the last three years due to the implementation of India’s strictest anti-copying law, Dhami noted.

Present on the occasion were Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, Graphic Era Chairman Prof. Kamal Ghanshala, Chancellor and NITI Aayog member Dr. V.K. Saraswat, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Narpinder Singh.
