Chief Minister Announces Specialized Training Institute and Welfare Measures for PRD Personnel on Foundation Day

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday participated in the Riteik Parade organized on the occasion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PRD) Foundation Day at the Directorate of Youth Welfare and PRD campus in Nanurkheda, Dehradun. During the event, he also presented financial assistance to the families of deceased PRD personnel and scholarship checks to their children.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of a specialized training institute for PRD personnel, aimed at enhancing their skills and efficiency in performing various departmental duties. He also declared that PRD personnel hospitalized while on duty will now be considered on duty and will be eligible to receive a maximum honorarium of six months. Additionally, a playground will be constructed in Asthal Raipur village for the welfare of the personnel.
Extending his greetings on the PRD Foundation Day, CM Dhami praised the personnel as symbols of patience, dedication, and indomitable willpower, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining security, public safety, traffic management, and assistance during natural disasters. He highlighted their tireless efforts during the Char Dham Yatra, ensuring the safe journey of millions of pilgrims.

The Chief Minister also elaborated on several welfare initiatives and historic decisions taken for PRD personnel:

Daily allowance: Increased from ₹65 at the time of the state’s formation to ₹650 per day.

Financial support: Over ₹70 lakh provided to deceased and injured personnel and their dependents.

Retirement benefits: Lump sum service allowance of ₹18 lakh for personnel completing 10 years of service.

Compensation for duty-related deaths:

Death during communal riots: ₹2 lakh (previously ₹1 lakh)

Death during highly sensitive duty: ₹1.5 lakh (previously ₹75,000)

Death during normal duty: ₹1 lakh (previously ₹50,000)

Funeral provisions: Special arrangements in new regulations for personnel who lose their lives during communal riots or highly sensitive duties.

Disaster assistance: Up to ₹50,000 for losses caused by natural disasters, subject to officer recommendation.

Employment support: Dependents of deceased and disabled soldiers registered as PRD soldiers; of 190 dependents registered, 133 have already received employment.
CM Dhami also announced that 149 registered dependents will receive departmental paramilitary training this month, which will equip them to perform PRD duties with greater efficiency in the future.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya praised PRD personnel for their unwavering service during elections, festivals, disasters, and routine duties, highlighting the historic welfare measures taken by Chief Minister Dhami. Currently, over 7,500 PRD personnel are serving across the state.
The event was attended by MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha, Additional Director of Youth Welfare Rakesh Dimri, and other dignitaries.
