DM Dr. Ashish Chauhan Conducts Surprise Inspection of Collectorate Offices, Record Room and Disaster Control Centre; Issues Key Directions to Officials
Focus on Timely Resolution of Public Grievances, Better Office Management and Disaster Preparedness
Dehradun, May 26, 2026: In an effort to strengthen administrative efficiency, transparency and citizen-centric governance, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan conducted a surprise inspection of various offices, sections, the record room and the Disaster Operations Centre located within the Collectorate premises on Tuesday. During the inspection, the District Magistrate reviewed office management, record maintenance, cleanliness, staff functioning and public service delivery, while issuing several important instructions to officials and employees.
The District Magistrate directed officials and staff to deal with citizens visiting government offices in a sensitive and respectful manner and ensure timely as well as quality disposal of complaints and public applications. He stated that providing quick relief to citizens in accordance with the government’s vision remains the administration’s top priority.
Reviewing pending cases during the inspection, Dr. Chauhan instructed officials to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure regular monitoring for prompt resolution of matters. He also inspected the maintenance of files and official documents in various departments and directed that all records be systematically arranged and preserved for easy and immediate accessibility whenever required.
Special Emphasis on Digitization of Records
During the inspection of the record room, the District Magistrate stressed the need for systematic maintenance and digitization of records. He instructed concerned officials to accelerate the digitization process to make record management more transparent, efficient and accessible. He also emphasized the secure preservation of important and sensitive documents.
Clean Offices Essential for Better Work Culture
Inspecting the cleanliness arrangements in the offices, Dr. Chauhan stated that clean and well-organized workplaces play a crucial role in improving work culture and enhancing employee efficiency. He instructed concerned departments to ensure regular cleanliness drives and maintain organized office premises.
Interacting with employees, the District Magistrate said that public service is the core objective of the administration and every officer and employee must discharge their responsibilities with complete transparency, accountability and commitment.
Review of Disaster Preparedness Ahead of Monsoon
The District Magistrate also carried out a detailed inspection of the Disaster Operations Centre and reviewed information related to landslide-prone areas, heavy rainfall-affected regions and remote villages where access requires travelling on foot. He directed officials to maintain updated lists of all sensitive and inaccessible areas and regularly assess communication facilities, alternative routes and relief arrangements in such locations.
Highlighting the upcoming monsoon season, Dr. Chauhan instructed all departments to work in close coordination and remain fully alert and prepared to tackle any emergency situation. He also directed personnel deployed at the Disaster Operations Centre to ensure prompt collection and dissemination of information so that relief and rescue operations can be carried out efficiently and within time.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) K.K. Mishra, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, SDM Headquarters Apoorva Singh, SDM Kumkum Joshi and other concerned officials and staff were present during the inspection.
