Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Transfers ₹11 Crore to Over 4,400 Workers Under Welfare Schemes
Financial assistance credited directly to beneficiaries’ accounts through DBT; CM emphasizes transparency and wider outreach of labour welfare schemes
Dehradun, June 20, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred approximately ₹11 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of more than 4,400 beneficiaries under various welfare schemes being implemented by the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
During a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence, the Chief Minister disbursed the financial assistance through a one-click system to beneficiaries of the Marriage Assistance Scheme, Death Grant Scheme, Maternity Benefit Scheme and Education Assistance Scheme.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to the social and economic empowerment of workers and their families. He emphasized that labourers play a crucial role in the state’s development and welfare initiatives are being implemented to improve their quality of life and provide social security.
CM Dhami directed the Labour Department to intensify awareness campaigns regarding various welfare schemes so that a larger number of eligible workers can avail themselves of the benefits. He instructed officials to organize special camps in construction sites, industrial areas and labour-dominated regions to facilitate registration and ensure greater access to welfare programmes.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to make essential materials and welfare services available near workers’ workplaces to minimize inconvenience and improve accessibility. He called for regular health check-up camps for workers, educational support for their dependent children and special outreach programmes for the distribution of essential household items.
Highlighting the importance of transparency, CM Dhami directed officials to ensure that all welfare schemes are implemented in a transparent manner with extensive use of information technology. He said robust monitoring and verification mechanisms should be maintained so that only genuine and eligible workers receive benefits under the schemes.
During the programme, officials informed that over the past year, the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has disbursed a total grant of ₹93.06 crore to 24,323 workers under various welfare schemes. The assistance has provided financial support and social security to thousands of labourer families across the state.
Among those present on the occasion were Kailash Pant, State Advisor (Contract Board); Geeta Rawat, Chairperson of the Vigilance Committee; Mohini Pokhariya, Vice-Chairperson of the State Vigilance Committee; Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar; Deputy Labour Commissioner Vipin Kumar; Assistant Labour Commissioner Shailesh Sati; Senior Technical Expert Durga Chamoli; and other officials. The programme was conducted by Labour Commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka.
The Chief Minister reiterated that workers are the foundation of the state’s progress and assured that the government will continue strengthening labour welfare measures to ensure greater financial security, dignity and well-being for workers and their families.
