Dehradun, April 15, 2026: Preparations for Uttarakhand’s globally renowned Char Dham Yatra 2026 have been intensified, with the pilgrimage set to commence on April 19, 2026, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The district administration has put in place extensive arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and well-organized यात्रा experience for devotees.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal reviewed the preparations during a high-level meeting at the Rishikesh Transit Camp, followed by an on-site inspection of facilities, including registration centers and passenger amenities. He issued necessary directives to further streamline व्यवस्थाएँ.

30 Registration Counters and Mobile Teams in Action

A total of 30 registration counters have been established—24 at the Rishikesh Transit Camp and 6 at ISBT. Additionally, 30 mobile teams have been deployed, including 25 teams operating during the day and 5 teams working overnight to register pilgrims staying in hotels, dharamshalas, and ashrams.

Around 7,100 beds have been identified across dharamshalas, ashrams, and lodges for accommodating pilgrims.

24×7 Integrated Control Room and Help Center

An integrated control room will function круглосуточно at the transit camp with personnel from all departments deployed on duty. Separate control rooms will also be operated by the police and health departments.

A dedicated Passenger Assistance Center will also be set up to provide on-ground support to pilgrims.

Free Meals, Tea, and Real-Time Information

The District Magistrate has directed officials to ensure free tea, snacks, and meals for pilgrims at the transit camp, with support from self-help groups and voluntary organizations.

Large display screens and informational flex boards will provide real-time details about accommodation availability, contact numbers, and bed capacity to assist travelers efficiently.

Healthcare and Basic Facilities Strengthened

Round-the-clock medical teams will be stationed at both Rishikesh and Herbertpur transit points. A total of six medical teams have been deployed—three at each location.

Authorities have also been directed to ensure adequate arrangements of drinking water, mobile toilets, and temporary shelters at all यात्रा halts and check barriers.

Strict Action on Delayed Works

Taking a stern stance on delays, the District Magistrate has canceled all pending work permissions of the Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam after it failed to complete pipeline work within the stipulated timeline.

All dug-up roads must be restored before April 19, failing which strict action will follow. Departments including PWD and National Highways have also been instructed to urgently fix identified black spots on travel routes.

₹50 Lakh Sanctioned for Cleanliness

To ensure hygiene and sanitation, ₹50 lakh has been sanctioned from the district plan to the Municipal Corporation Rishikesh for cleaning and fogging operations.

The DM also ordered blacklisting of a contracted firm responsible for sanitation at the transit camp due to non-payment of wages to workers, which had disrupted cleaning services.
