DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the Uttarakhand government will provide free ration for the next six months to families affected by the recent disaster in Dharali, Uttarkashi district. He said every possible assistance is being extended to the affected people.
The CM informed that immediate financial aid of ₹5 lakh will be given to those whose houses have been completely damaged or destroyed. A three-member committee headed by the Revenue Secretary has been constituted to assess rehabilitation, displacement, and losses, including damage to apple orchards.
Dhami said that the government’s priority was to shift people to safe locations, and despite bad weather, over 1,000 people, including locals and pilgrims, have been rescued so far. The injured are receiving treatment at the District Hospital and AIIMS, with arrangements made for proper medical care.
Efforts are underway to restore road connectivity in Harsil, with a Bailey bridge being constructed in Gangaani. Landslide-affected roads will be repaired soon, and the damaged road to Harsil is expected to be operational by Tuesday.
The CM added that similar devastation has occurred in other parts of the state. People in Saainji and Bankuda villages of Pauri whose homes have been damaged will also receive up to ₹5 lakh in aid.
