Uttarakhand to Launch Fully Online Ration Card Application System from Next Year: Rekha Arya

Ration Card Application Process to Go Fully Online Next Year: Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya

Dehradun: Uttarakhand is set to make the ration card application system entirely online from next year, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya announced following a review meeting of the Food and Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday. The move aims to bring complete transparency to the application process and eliminate inconsistencies that have persisted in the manual system.

Arya informed that along with applications, the payment and billing system for ration vendors will also be shifted to an online platform, ensuring faster processing and improved accountability across the state.

Highlighting the progress of seasonal procurement, Arya said that 98% of paddy procurement has already been completed this year against the target set by the Central Government. The state has requested the Centre to increase the procurement quota so that the remaining farmers can also sell their produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

During the meeting, officials reviewed the financial status of ration vendors. It was revealed that profit shares up to May have been released to vendors across all districts, and the pending dues for the next three months will be cleared within two to three days.

Issuing clear directives on the issuance of new ration cards, Arya instructed officials not to rely solely on the date of old applications while taking decisions. She stressed the need for a sensitive and humanitarian approach, giving priority to the most vulnerable applicants—such as the physically challenged, divorced or abandoned individuals, orphans, and people with mental disabilities.

The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Food) L. Fanai, Food Commissioner Ranveer Chauhan, Additional Commissioner P.S. Pangti, State Ration Dealer Association President Revadhar Brijwasi, and other departmental officials along with representatives of ration vendors.
