Oho Radio 89.2 FM Launched in Uttarakhand to Promote Public Awareness and Culture

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates Oho Radio 89.2 FM, Calls Radio a Trusted Medium of Public Communication

Dehradun, August 3, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated Oho Radio 89.2 FM at Ballupur in Dehradun. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described radio as one of the most effective platforms for public communication, awareness and social transformation, emphasizing that despite rapid technological advancements and the rise of digital media, radio continues to enjoy immense credibility and public trust.

The Chief Minister said that radio is not merely a source of entertainment but also a powerful medium for information, education and public awareness, reaching even the remotest sections of society. He noted that radio has consistently played a significant role in disseminating government welfare schemes, promoting health and education awareness, supporting environmental conservation, strengthening disaster management communication and delivering other public-interest information to citizens.

Expressing confidence in the newly launched Oho Radio 89.2 FM, Dhami said the station would help promote constructive dialogue, enhance social awareness and effectively communicate issues of public importance across different sections of society. He added that it would also serve as a vibrant platform for youth, women, students and local communities to share their voices and ideas.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage, the Chief Minister said the Uttarakhand Government is continuously working through various communication platforms to promote the state’s folk languages, traditional arts, folk music, cultural heritage and local talent at the national level. He remarked that FM and community radio stations have an important role in preserving and popularising these traditions.

The Chief Minister further stated that even in the digital era, radio remains a reliable and impactful medium. Community and FM radio stations play a crucial role in highlighting local issues, promoting positive news and encouraging public participation. He also noted that radio becomes especially valuable during emergencies and natural disasters by providing timely and trustworthy information.

Dhami expressed hope that Oho Radio 89.2 FM would become a powerful voice for positive thinking, constructive communication and public welfare while contributing significantly to Uttarakhand’s development and cultural identity.
