Dehradun: Owing to the heavy rains and the resulting disaster across Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday late night reached the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) to review the situation in Dehradun and other affected districts. The Chief Minister held a meeting with the officials of the Disaster Management Department, SDRF, district administration, and other related agencies, and reviewed the progress of relief and rescue operations.

The Chief Minister also obtained detailed information from the disaster control room regarding the damage caused in the capital Dehradun and other districts due to incessant rains. He directed that relief and rescue operations be carried out on a war footing. CM Dhami said that every affected family must be provided immediate assistance and that all missing persons should be traced without delay.

CM Dhami stated: “In this hour of disaster, the government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with every affected family. There must not be any laxity in relief and rescue work. Officers should visit the affected areas and resolve the people’s problems on priority.”

The Chief Minister appreciated the dedicated work of SDRF, police, health workers, and municipal staff engaged in relief operations, emphasizing that all teams should work in coordination to provide maximum assistance to the people.

He also instructed the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure early restoration of drinking water supply and maintain water quality checks. Similarly, the Health Department was directed to remain vigilant against possible outbreaks of diseases after the disaster.

Central Government Support

The Chief Minister informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to him over the phone, inquired about the situation in Uttarakhand, and assured every possible support from the central government. “The Government of India stands firmly with Uttarakhand in this crisis,” they assured.

CM’s Message to the Public

CM Dhami appealed to the general public to follow the guidelines issued by the administration for their own safety. He reiterated that the state government is fully alert and prepared to deal with any situation, and that “no stone will be left unturned to ensure the safety and assistance of citizens.”
