Dehradun District Planning Committee Elections: Nominations Begin October 12, Polling and Counting on October 16
District Election Officer Dr Ashish Chauhan announces election schedule; withdrawal of nominations allowed on October 14
Dehradun, October 11, 2026: The election process for members of the District Planning Committee in Dehradun district will be conducted according to the schedule announced by District Election Officer and District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan. The schedule specifies the dates and timings for filing nominations, scrutiny of nomination papers, withdrawal of candidatures, polling and vote counting.
According to the announced programme, the nomination process will begin on October 12, while polling and counting will take place on October 16, 2026.
Complete Election Schedule
Candidates can file their nomination papers on October 12 between 11 am and 4 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on October 13, beginning at 10 am and continuing until the end of the working day.
Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations can do so on October 14 between 11 am and 3 pm.
Polling is scheduled for October 16, from 8 am to 3 pm. Once voting concludes, counting will begin at 3 pm on the same day and continue until the process is completed.
The election results will be declared by the Returning Officer after the counting process, in accordance with the applicable rules.
Publicity and Information Arrangements
District Election Officer Dr Ashish Chauhan has directed the concerned officials to ensure adequate publicity of the election schedule. Public notices will be displayed on notice boards at the District Panchayat headquarters, relevant offices and urban local bodies to ensure that election-related information reaches the concerned stakeholders and the public.
Officials have also been instructed to make the necessary arrangements for the smooth and timely implementation of the election programme.
Election to Follow State Legislation
The election of members to the Dehradun District Planning Committee will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Uttarakhand District Planning Committee Act, 2007, and the District Planning Committee Rules, 2010.
The administration has directed the concerned officials to ensure compliance with the prescribed schedule and complete all necessary preparations in time. The polling and counting processes are scheduled to conclude on October 16, followed by the declaration of results as per the rules.
