Public service is the foremost duty of the administration: DM Savin Bansal
Lakhamandal, May 15 (Dehradun):
In line with the directives of the Chief Minister, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal has adopted an active and hands-on approach to governance by visiting remote and inaccessible areas, transforming routine administrative tours into effective problem-solving missions and public outreach initiatives.
Two-Day Camp Held in Lakhamandal
A multipurpose two-day camp was recently organized in the Lakhamandal region, where DM Bansal was personally present to listen to and address local concerns. Responding to the demand of local residents, an Aadhaar team was stationed at the camp, helping over 55 people create or update their Aadhaar cards.
Prompt Action on Public Complaints
During the camp, the District Magistrate instructed relevant departments to take swift action on complaints received:
Elderly resident Pitambar’s complaint about damage to his garden was met with instructions to the PWD and Horticulture Department to assess the damage and submit a report within seven days.
Bachan Singh Rana’s concern over a pending fish pond report led to the immediate summoning of Fisheries Department officials and a request for an urgent update.
Jagat Singh Panwar’s complaint regarding uncleared debris on the Lakhamandal-Nada motor road prompted a directive to the Joint Magistrate to inspect the area and submit a detailed report.
Focus on Infrastructure and Irrigation
The DM also issued instructions regarding critical infrastructure needs:
Directed use of NABARD funds to repair the 10-km Lakhamandal-Padia irrigation canal.
On hearing that the 1962-declared state highway had not been asphalted in 35 years, the DM asked the Superintending Engineer to escalate the matter with the Secretary for prompt action.
Over 590 People Benefited from the Camp
The outreach camp provided a range of services and support:
Healthcare Services: 495 health checkups, 183 eyeglasses distributed, free medicines, and Unani-Ayurvedic consultations.
Certificates Issued: 12 pension certificates, 10 income certificates, and 1 disability certificate.
