Earth Hour 2026: Dehradun DM Urges Citizens to Switch Off Lights for One Hour

Dehradun DM Savin Bansal urges citizens to participate in Earth Hour 2026 on March 28 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM by switching off non-essential lights to support environmental conservation.

Dehradun, March 27:

The District Magistrate, Savin Bansal, has appealed to residents to actively participate in the global environmental campaign Earth Hour. He informed that with the objective of conserving natural resources and ensuring a better future for coming generations, “Earth Hour” will be observed on March 28, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. During this period, citizens are urged to switch off all non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour.

The District Magistrate emphasized that this initiative is not merely symbolic but represents a collective responsibility towards energy conservation, environmental protection, and tackling climate change. He called upon all citizens, government and semi-government offices, private institutions, commercial establishments, and educational organizations across the district to ensure enthusiastic participation.

He also directed concerned departments to ensure wide publicity of the campaign so that maximum public awareness and involvement can be achieved.

Appealing to the general public, the District Magistrate urged everyone to switch off unnecessary lights at their homes, offices, and establishments during the designated hour and contribute towards this global movement. He noted that such small efforts can significantly help in energy conservation and play an important role in building a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for future generations.
