CHAMOLI: The sacred doors of Siddhpeeth Latu Temple in Van village of Chamoli district were ceremoniously opened for the summer season on Monday. On this auspicious occasion, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Latu Dham, offered prayers, and extended wishes for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the nation and the state.
Addressing the devotees, CM Dhami described the event not merely as a religious gathering, but as a symbol of deep-rooted faith, tradition, and unity. He began the address with chants in reverence to Maa Nanda and Latu Devta, and commended the Indian Army for its decisive action following the recent Pahalgam attack, lauding the bravery and commitment of the soldiers.
Highlighting the spiritual significance of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that alongside the renowned Char Dham pilgrimage sites, the state is home to many other sacred shrines like Tungnath, Rudranath, Jageshwar, Adi Kailash, and Adi Badri, which together preserve the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage. He emphasized that smaller temples such as Latu Dham play a vital role in upholding these centuries-old traditions.
Dhami remarked, “The practice of visiting Latu Dham with blindfolded eyes symbolizes that true faith is guided by the heart, not just vision. We aim to establish Uttarakhand not only as the spiritual capital of India but of the entire world.”
To achieve this vision, the state government is undertaking restoration and development of ancient temples, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing infrastructure around key religious sites. He added that efforts are being made to ensure the Char Dham Yatra proceeds smoothly, with the provision of all-weather roads, medical facilities, and emergency heli services to aid pilgrims.
He further noted that significant development work is ongoing, including the construction of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line and the implementation of master plans in Badrinath and Kedarnath to improve amenities for pilgrims.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare, CM Dhami highlighted key decisions taken under his administration, such as the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, and the enactment of laws against illegal conversion, riots, and land mafia activities.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced plans for the holistic development of Latu Dham, including the construction of a sub-district hospital, flood protection measures, and a helipad in Kulsari. He assured local residents that the government will incorporate all demands raised by the area’s MLA into long-term, medium-term, and short-term development plans.
Looking ahead to the Maa Nanda Devi Rajjat Yatra in 2026, CM Dhami directed the district administration to begin preparations in a systematic and timely manner. He emphasized continuous monitoring and coordinated efforts to ensure the grand success of this significant spiritual event, promising enhanced infrastructure such as roads, parking, and passenger facilities.
Prominent attendees included Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta, Karnaprayag MLA Anil, Herbal Advisory Committee Vice-President Balbir Ghuniyal, BJP District President Gajpal Bartwal, Organizing Committee President Krishna Singh, Block Administrator Darshan Danu, and several senior officials including District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar, and Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash.
