‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’ Tableau to Be Showcased at Bharat Parv at Red Fort
New Delhi: Uttarakhand’s special tableau, themed “Self-Reliant Uttarakhand”, will be showcased at the historic Red Fort in Delhi from January 26 to 31 as part of Bharat Parv 2026. The tableau highlights the state’s journey toward self-reliance, celebrating its rich cultural heritage, traditional crafts, and efforts to empower local artisans and strengthen indigenous livelihoods.
State government sources said the theme resonates with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, emphasizing how Uttarakhand has successfully blended development with cultural preservation.
The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the Ministry of Defence at the National Stadium Camp in New Delhi on Thursday, where tableaus of different states and central ministries were introduced to the media.
K S Chauhan, Joint Director of the Information Department and Nodal Officer of the tableau, elaborated on its design and symbolism:
-
Front Section: Features copper replicas of traditional musical instruments like Dhol and Ransingha, reflecting Uttarakhand’s rich musical heritage and the craftsmanship of local artisans.
-
Middle Section: Showcases a large copper Manjira, along with traditional copper utensils such as Gagar, Surahi, and Kundi, illustrating the beauty, functionality, and artistic skill involved in Uttarakhand’s copper craft traditions.
-
Side Panels: Display images of traditional musical instruments, reinforcing the state’s cultural richness.
-
Rear Section: A lifelike figure of a copper artisan at work highlights the meticulous, hand-crafted methods passed down through generations, honoring the artisan community’s skill, dedication, and dignity.
Chauhan emphasized, “The tableau celebrates the artisan community of Uttarakhand, showcasing how traditional crafts are not only cultural treasures but also vital sources of livelihood for many families. It conveys a powerful message of self-reliance, promotion of local skills, and respect for age-old knowledge.”
The tableau promises to be a visual tribute to Uttarakhand’s craftsmanship and culture, aligning perfectly with the ethos of Bharat Parv, which celebrates India’s unity, diversity, and heritage.
