Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviews LPG supply across Uttarakhand, directs timely distribution for domestic and commercial use. Emphasis on PNG connections and alternative fuels like Pirul briquettes to reduce LPG dependency.

Dehradun:
To ensure the smooth availability of LPG across the state, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a review meeting on Monday with all District Magistrates via video conferencing from the Secretariat. He directed officials to ensure timely supply of both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in accordance with demand.

While reviewing district-wise LPG supply status, the Chief Secretary emphasized that uninterrupted gas supply must be ensured not only for household consumers but also for hospitals, educational institutions, and other essential establishments. He instructed District Magistrates to remain in constant coordination with the LPG State Coordinator and take necessary steps to enhance supply wherever required.

He also directed that areas recently upgraded from rural to urban categories should be promptly updated in the oil companies’ digital systems to avoid any disruption in gas distribution.

Highlighting the need to reduce dependence on LPG, the Chief Secretary stressed increasing the adoption of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. He urged officials to encourage commercial establishments to shift to PNG, which would help ease the pressure on LPG demand.

Additionally, he advocated promoting “Pirul Briquettes” as an alternative fuel. He noted that their usage would not only reduce LPG consumption but also help in the effective disposal of pine needles from forests, thereby contributing to the prevention of forest fires.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary L. Fanai, Secretaries Vinod Kumar Suman and Anand Swaroop, DG UCOST Prof. Durgesh Pant, along with other senior officials.
