Illegal Removal of LPG Gas Detected in Dehradun, Distribution Vehicle Seized
Gas removed from four domestic LPG cylinders; refilling equipment recovered, case registered against two employees and gas agency
Dehradun: Acting promptly on a complaint received by the district administration, the Dehradun Supply Department conducted an inspection of a domestic LPG distribution vehicle in Soda Sirauli village and detected the illegal removal of LPG from domestic cylinders. The distribution vehicle was immediately seized, and legal action was initiated against the concerned employees and the gas agency.
Following directions from the District Magistrate, Dehradun, Regional Food Officer Santosh Bhatt was dispatched to the spot to investigate the complaint. The inspection team checked a domestic LPG distribution vehicle belonging to Ordinance Gas Service, Raipur, Dehradun, in Soda Sirauli village.
During the inspection, a total of 26 domestic LPG cylinders were found in the vehicle. Of these, four cylinders had approximately 1 kg to 6.5 kg of LPG removed from them, while the remaining 22 cylinders were found completely filled.
Local residents also confirmed to the inspection team that LPG was allegedly being illegally removed by the distribution personnel. Video evidence of the alleged activity was also provided by local residents. A refilling device used for transferring LPG from one cylinder to another was also recovered from the spot.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the authorities immediately seized the LPG distribution vehicle and initiated legal proceedings. A case was registered at Raipur Police Station in Dehradun district against employees Jaiprakash, son of Prem Shankar, and Ratnesh Chandrapal, as well as against Ordinance Gas Service, Raipur, Dehradun.
All 26 LPG cylinders recovered during the inspection were safely deposited with a nearby cooperative gas service to ensure their safety and prevent any inconvenience to consumers.
The inspection team comprised Regional Food Officer Santosh Bhatt and Supply Assistant Vijay.
Dehradun District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal said that any attempt to compromise the interests of LPG consumers would not be tolerated. He stated that strict and effective action would continue to be taken against individuals and institutions found involved in irregularities, illegal practices or any form of malpractice in the LPG distribution system.
The department has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that consumers receive domestic LPG cylinders in the prescribed quantity and that transparency and accountability are maintained throughout the distribution system.
