Key Proposals Approved at 132nd Board Meeting of UJVN Limited

Several key decisions were approved at the 132nd Board Meeting of UJVN Limited, including restructuring of posts, approval of major hydropower projects, formation of a technical expert group, and policy-related review petitions. Power generation has exceeded targets by 84 million units.

DEHRADUN: The 132nd meeting of the Board of Directors of UJVN Limited was held on Monday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to the Government of Uttarakhand and Chairman of UJVN Limited. During the meeting, the Board deliberated in detail on several important proposals related to human resources management, operational efficiency, ongoing and upcoming projects, and other strategic matters of the corporation.

One of the major decisions taken at the meeting was the approval of the proposal for restructuring the corporation’s permanent and temporary posts, aimed at strengthening the organizational framework and improving administrative efficiency.

The Board also approved the formation of an expert technical group to provide technical evaluation, guidance, and advisory support for new and upcoming projects. This expert group will offer recommendations on technical feasibility, project design, and implementation strategies. The group will initially work on the proposed 114 MW Sela–Urthing Hydroelectric Project in the border district of Pithoragarh and the 102 MW Mori–Tyuni Hydroelectric Project, along with other projects as and when required.

In another significant decision, the Board approved the revised cost estimates and accorded administrative approval for works related to minimizing downstream water flow from the Joshiyara Barrage under the Maneri Bhali Stage-II project. Approval was also granted for availing consultancy services for the Mori–Tyuni project.

The Board further approved the updated cost and revised administrative approval for electro-mechanical works of the 300 MW Lakhwar Hydroelectric Project. Additionally, approval was granted for the detailed project report and investment proposal for the rehabilitation of the 3 MW Urgam Small Hydroelectric Project located in Chamoli district.

The proposal to invite tenders for the installation of electro-mechanical equipment for the 72 MW Tyuni–Plasu Hydroelectric Project was also approved. Financial approval was accorded for civil design and engineering works of the 12 MW Tankul Hydroelectric Project proposed on the Shyamkholagad River in Pithoragarh district.

The Board granted permission to file a review petition before the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) regarding provisions related to battery-based energy storage tariffs and trading margins under the UERC Regulations, 2025. Approval was also given to file a separate review petition with UERC concerning the non-grant of extension in the commercial operation date for solar power projects.

During the meeting, details of power generation for the financial year 2025–26 were presented before the Board. It was informed that UJVN Limited’s power plants are currently generating 84 million units more than the set target, reflecting improved operational performance.

Singh, Executive Directors Sudhakar Badoni, Ashish Jain, Vivek Atreya, and other senior officers.
