Dehradun: On the auspicious and vibrant occasion of Baisakhi, a large and distinguished delegation from the Sikh community paid a courtesy visit to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. The delegation honored the Chief Minister by presenting a traditional siropa and extended warm Baisakhi greetings. The meeting was marked by an atmosphere of devotion, harmony, and enthusiasm, reflecting the rich cultural traditions and values of the Sikh community.
The delegation included Narinderjeet Singh Bindra, President of the Hemkund Sahib Trust; Surendra Singh Namdhari, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Kisan Commission; Dinesh Mansera; and MLA Suresh Gadiya, along with several other prominent citizens and social representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Narinderjeet Singh Bindra appreciated the efforts of both the central and state governments in ensuring the welfare, dignity, and protection of the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. He noted that several historic decisions taken in recent years have provided renewed recognition and respect to the Sikh community.
He specifically highlighted the Hemkund Sahib Ropeway Project, proposed at an estimated cost of around ₹1,740 crore, calling it a landmark initiative. The project is expected to significantly ease the challenging mountainous journey, making it safer and more accessible—especially benefiting elderly pilgrims, women, and दिव्यांग devotees.
Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his heartfelt Baisakhi greetings and said that the festival is not just a celebration but a symbol of agricultural prosperity, cultural heritage, and social unity. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to enhancing facilities at religious destinations and ensuring greater convenience for pilgrims.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that the state is moving swiftly to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that “the third decade will belong to Uttarakhand.” In this direction, major infrastructure initiatives like the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor are set to open new avenues of development, boosting connectivity, investment, and employment opportunities across the state.
He affirmed that the government is committed to taking Uttarakhand to new heights of development with inclusive participation from all sections of society.
