‘Samadhan Diwas’ Brings Hope to Needy Families; Four Critically Ill Children to Receive Free Treatment

Strict Action Ordered Against Land Mafia, Inquiry Directed into Elderly Abuse Cases

146 Public Grievances Registered, Ranging from Land Disputes to Financial Assistance

Dehradun:
The district administration’s flagship public grievance redressal initiative, Samadhan Diwas, once again emerged as a ray of hope for citizens seeking timely resolution of their problems. During the public hearing held at Rishiparna Auditorium on Monday, several financially distressed families received much-needed relief. Among the most significant cases were four families whose children are suffering from serious medical conditions, including brain tumors, severe kidney ailments, and complex intestinal disorders.

Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, the administration initiated immediate steps to facilitate comprehensive treatment for all four children under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). The children will now receive complete medical care free of cost, easing the financial burden on their families and ensuring access to quality treatment.

The Samadhan Diwas was organized under the guidance of the District Magistrate and chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) K.K. Mishra. Citizens from various parts of the district attended the public hearing and submitted a total of 146 grievances and complaints related to land disputes, illegal encroachments, land records, demarcation issues, caste certificates, financial assistance, public infrastructure, and welfare schemes.

The ADM resolved a majority of the complaints on the spot, while the remaining cases were forwarded to the concerned departments with instructions for prompt, transparent, and lawful action within stipulated timelines.

Administration Orders Action Against Land Mafia

A complainant from Gram Panchayat Chharba alleged that land mafia elements had illegally encroached upon and sold government barren land, while also issuing death threats to those opposing their activities. Taking serious note of the allegations, the ADM directed the Circle Officer (CO) Police and the Tehsil administration to conduct an immediate investigation and initiate strict legal action against those involved.

Swift Response to Elderly Abuse Complaints

Two senior citizens, 84-year-old Raj Kumar of Jamnipur Tapad and 65-year-old Jaswant Singh of Khurbura, narrated their ordeal before the administration. They alleged that their sons and daughters-in-law had assaulted them, forced them out of their homes, and attempted to illegally occupy their property.

Considering the sensitivity of the matter, the ADM directed the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and CO Police to investigate the complaints immediately and ensure justice and protection for the elderly citizens.

Issues Related to Kendriya Vidyalaya and Road Repairs Raised

A former District Panchayat member raised concerns regarding the non-operational status of a proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sahiya, Kalsi Block, despite the transfer of land for the project. The administration informed that the matter is currently under consideration at the government level.

Residents also highlighted the poor condition of the road stretch between Mayur Vihar Police Outpost and the Canal Road petrol pump on Sahastradhara Road. The Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) was directed to undertake immediate repair and patchwork to improve public convenience and road safety.

Financial Assistance and Welfare Requests Considered

Deepa Mehra of Vani Vihar sought assistance for her daughter’s school fees, citing financial hardship. Similarly, Man Singh of Nai Basti, Park Road, requested waiver of his water bill, while elderly resident Somdatt Sharma appealed for a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The administration directed the concerned departments to examine these cases and take necessary action based on eligibility and applicable government provisions.

Timely Resolution of Public Grievances Remains a Priority

Addressing the gathering, ADM K.K. Mishra stated that the primary objective of Samadhan Diwas is to ensure transparent, accountable, and time-bound resolution of public grievances. He instructed all departmental officers to treat every complaint seriously and ensure effective and prompt redressal.

He emphasized that the district administration remains committed to acting as a bridge between the government and citizens by addressing public concerns with sensitivity and efficiency.

The public hearing was attended by ADM Administration Smrita Parmar, City Magistrate Rajesh Tiwari, SDM Ravindra Jwantha, SDM Aparna Dhaundiyal, District Development Officer Sunil Kumar, Tehsildar Surendra Dev, and senior officials from various departments.
