CM Pushkar Singh Dhami requests 100% LPG supply and additional allocation for Char Dham Yatra to ensure smooth pilgrimage and effective disaster management in Uttarakhand.

Dehradun/New Delhi:
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on several key issues concerning the state, keeping in view its challenging geographical conditions and disaster vulnerability.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders be maintained at 100% to ensure the smooth, safe, and uninterrupted conduct of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. He informed that the pilgrimage, which runs from April to November, attracts lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, leading to a significant surge in demand for commercial LPG. The state requires approximately 967,949 commercial LPG cylinders during this period.
CM Dhami also highlighted that Uttarakhand faces natural disasters every year during the monsoon season from June to September. Given the difficult mountainous terrain, LPG plays a crucial role in disaster management, relief, and rescue operations. In this context, he urged the allocation of an additional 5% commercial LPG cylinders (around 48,397 cylinders) to ensure timely and effective emergency response.
He further stated that Uttarakhand’s economy is largely tourism-driven, with religious tourism, pilgrimage, and adventure tourism playing a vital role. The Char Dham Yatra is not only a matter of deep faith but also a key pillar of the state’s cultural identity and economic activity.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri responded positively to the proposals presented by the Chief Minister and assured that necessary action would be taken. He also reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the state.
