Tanakpur/Champawat: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday inaugurated the Cooperative Fair at Gandhi Maidan, Tanakpur, marking the celebration of International Cooperative Year 2025. Organized by the Uttarakhand Cooperative Department, the fair aims to strengthen the cooperative movement and promote rural entrepreneurship across the state.
After cutting the ribbon, the Chief Minister inspected departmental stalls and interacted with beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the cooperative sector is not merely an economic system but a “symbol of mutual support, social harmony, and collective progress.” He added that the cooperative movement has played a crucial role in empowering farmers, women, and youth to become self-reliant.
Dhami praised the initiative, noting that events like these help expand the spirit of cooperation from rural communities to urban society.

₹1 Lakh Incentive Cheques Distributed to Farmers
During the program, CM Dhami distributed cheques of ₹1 lakh each to four farmers—Pan Singh, Kishan Singh, Sandeep Singh, and another beneficiary—for dairy cattle rearing under the Cooperative Department’s rural incentive scheme. He encouraged them to set an example for other farmers by adopting modern and sustainable livelihood practices.
Champawat Receives Eight Major Development Projects Worth ₹88.11 Crore
The Chief Minister dedicated and laid the foundation stone for eight key development schemes costing a total of ₹8810.90 lakh (approx. ₹88.11 crore). These include three completed projects and five new ones.

125-meter Arch Motor Bridge on Nayakgoth–Hanumangarhi Motor Road (₹1377.14 lakh)
The newly inaugurated bridge on the Hanumangarhi–Khetkheda–Thwalkheda route enhances connectivity for several villages in Champawat. -
Hot Mix Improvement of Internal Roads in Champawat (₹992.12 lakh)
The PWD Provincial Division completed strengthening and upgrading of internal link roads to improve urban mobility. -
Reconstruction of Collectorate Building in Kumaoni Architectural Style (₹109.30 lakh)
The Rural Works Department restored the building with traditional aesthetics while integrating modern facilities.
Foundation Stone Laid for 05 Projects — Total Cost: ₹6332.34 Lakh

Construction of New Tehsil Office Building, Champawat (₹1385.68 lakh)
Proposed by the Uttarakhand Drinking Water Resources Development and Construction Corporation, the project will enhance administrative efficiency. -

Chief Minister Dhami said the schemes will accelerate holistic and balanced development across Champawat, generate employment, strengthen the rural economy, and significantly enhance the quality of life in the region.
