Public Confidence Grows Through District Administration’s Jan Darshan: Sensitive Hearings and Time-Bound Justice

Inspired by the Chief Minister’s commitment to public service, the Jan Darshan programme conducted by the district administration has emerged as an effective platform for prompt, sensitive, and transparent redressal of public grievances. From attentive hearings to time-bound resolution, the initiative is steadily strengthening public trust in the administration.
The Jan Darshan programme was held on Monday at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, during which a total of 158 complaints/applications related to public issues were received. The District Magistrate directed all concerned departmental officers to ensure timely, quality-driven and compassionate disposal of each complaint and to provide written information regarding the resolution to the complainants.

Relief for Accident-Affected Family
Ms. Neha, a resident of Shiv Enclave, Mehuwala, informed that she had taken a loan of ₹5 lakh from ICICI Bank, Rajpur Road branch. In 2023, her husband Surya Prakash lost both legs and suffered partial damage to his hands due to an electric shock accident, pushing the family into severe financial distress. Taking cognizance of the matter, the District Magistrate instructed the Officer-in-Charge (Arms) to coordinate with the bank and ensure appropriate and expeditious resolution of the case.
Support for Cancer-Affected Widow and Children’s Education
Cancer-affected widow Suman, resident of Kheri Road, Chhadmiwala, requested a fee waiver for her younger daughter Kanika. The District Magistrate directed the concerned officials to take necessary action under the Nanda-Sunanda Scheme.
Similarly, Monika from Ogal Bhatta sought educational support for her daughters Nandita and Nandini, for which instructions were issued to submit the case before the concerned committee for necessary action.

Immediate Action on Farmers’ Grievance
Farmers from Chaktoonwala complained that a property dealer had blocked a government-constructed pathway (including a sewer line), built using public funds, thereby adversely affecting agricultural activities. The District Magistrate directed the Municipal Commissioner, Dehradun Municipal Corporation, to take effective action and submit an Action Taken Report.
Assistance Under Hit-and-Run Scheme
Ms. Seema Gupta, a resident of Dalanwala, reported that she suffered a serious fracture due to a road accident in February 2024 and sought financial assistance. The District Magistrate directed officials to process her case under the Hit-and-Run Compensation Scheme.
Financial Aid to Elderly Widow and Paralysis Patient
Elderly widow Meena Anand from Mannuganj and Virendra Dheeman from Chandrashekhar Azad Colony, who is suffering from paralysis and unable to earn a livelihood, approached the administration for assistance. The District Magistrate directed the Officer-in-Charge (Arms) to submit proposals for financial aid from the Rifle Club Fund in both cases.
Strict Action in RTE Admission Denial Case
Widow Bharti Badola, a resident of Sahastradhara, complained that her differently-abled daughter was denied admission under the Right to Education Act by a government-recognized private school, Shalini Public School. Taking a strict stance, the District Magistrate directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) and District Education Officer (DEO) to ensure immediate admission of the child and initiate action against the school management. An Action Taken Report was also sought.
No Tolerance for Negligence
Reiterating the administration’s commitment, the District Magistrate emphasized that Jan Darshan is a vital platform for resolving public grievances and that any negligence at any level will not be tolerated. All officers were instructed to ensure transparent, timely, and effective disposal of complaints so that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries without delay.
Senior officials including Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) Krishna Kumar Mishra, Special Land Acquisition Officer Smrita Parmar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Headquarters) Apoorva Singh, SDM Kumkum Joshi, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar, and officers from concerned departments were present during the programme.
