The sacred banks of the Ganga at Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh witnessed an extraordinary confluence of spirituality, devotion and Indian cultural heritage on Friday evening as Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Naveen participated in the traditional Ganga Pujan and the grand Ganga Aarti ceremony.

Amid the chanting of Vedic hymns, devotional songs and the mesmerizing glow of lamps illuminating the ghats, both leaders offered prayers to Maa Ganga for the happiness, prosperity, peace, good health and well-being of the people of the nation and the state, along with prayers for global peace and harmony.

The spiritually charged atmosphere at Parmarth Niketan reflected the deep-rooted faith and reverence associated with the holy river Ganga. Devotees, saints, tourists and spiritual seekers from across the country and abroad gathered in large numbers to witness the divine ceremony.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, BJP National President Nitin Naveen said that Maa Ganga is not merely a river, but the eternal symbol of India’s spiritual consciousness, cultural identity and Sanatan traditions. He stated that visiting the sacred banks of the Ganga always provides a profound sense of spiritual peace and inner connection.

He emphasized that India’s saintly and spiritual traditions have consistently guided society during difficult and challenging times. Saints, sages and spiritual leaders, through their penance, sacrifice and wisdom, have preserved and strengthened India’s cultural and spiritual values for centuries.

Nitin Naveen said that whenever the nation faced social, cultural or ideological challenges, the saint community played a pivotal role in providing direction and inspiration to society. Even today, India’s spiritual strength and cultural heritage continue to attract and inspire the world. He described Uttarakhand as the soul of India’s Sanatan culture and a sacred land that radiates spiritual inspiration across the globe.

He further remarked that preserving the Ganga, India’s spiritual traditions and cultural heritage is not merely a religious responsibility but also a moral duty toward future generations. He called upon the youth to remain connected with Indian cultural values and contribute actively toward environmental conservation and the protection of rivers.

Parmarth Niketan President Swami Chidanand Muni welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of Ganga conservation, environmental protection and humanitarian service. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is achieving new milestones globally and earning greater respect across the world through decisions taken in national interest.

Swami Chidanand Muni praised Uttarakhand as a land of divinity, discipline and spiritual harmony, while appreciating Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s efforts toward development and preservation of the state’s cultural identity. He also underlined the global significance of the Ganga and India’s spiritual traditions.

Prominent saints, dignitaries and public representatives present during the event included Juna Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri, Niranjani Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri, Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad President Mahant Ravindra Puri, Garhwal MP Anil Baluni, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, local MLA Renu Bisht, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chatar Singh Chauhan, along with several officials, devotees and tourists from India and abroad.

The grand Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan once again reflected the magnificence of India’s spiritual heritage, cultural traditions and unwavering devotion toward Maa Ganga.
